Clarence Hulse, Executive Director

Clarence brings a long and proven history of success to the EDCMC, particularly being a change agent. His past experiences include Community and Economic Development Manager for the City of New Bern, North Carolina, Director of Economic Development for the City of Jeffersonville, and Deputy City Manager of Cocoa Florida, to name a few. Clarence is credited in creating over 30,000+ jobs and over a $1 billion+ in capital investment over the past 20 years. He has won both state and national awards for his work in the community and economic development arena.

His memberships and community involvement include Urban Land Institute, International Council of Shopping Centers, Leadership Florida, Leadership Southern Indiana, Leadership La Porte County, United Way La Porte County, Workforce Development Boards, State Economic Development and Redevelopment Associations, and Planning and Zoning Boards. He is currently serving his second term as a board member of the International Economic Development Council.

Clarence earned his BS at Harding University, AR in Public Administration, magna cum laude and an MS in Economic Development from the University of Southern Mississippi. He is also a graduate of the University of Oklahoma Economic Development Institute.

Jenilee was born and raised in Michigan City, she spent over a decade away from home in Washington D.C., and Chicago, returning to raise her family in her hometown. Jenilee has a diverse background and experiences in community partnerships, business development, small business management, and hospitality.

Jenilee is a graduate of Michigan City Area Schools and attended Purdue University West Lafayette where she graduated with a degree in Public Health. She recently obtained her Master’s in Business Administration from Western Governors University. She has also completed the Basic Economic Development Course at Ball State University. Her passion for community and small business led her to serve as a SCORE small business mentor. She lives in Michigan City with her husband and daughter.

Michele Hyland was born and raised in the Mt. Greenwood neighborhood of Chicago. She is proud to call Michigan City her home after previously living in Louisiana, Arkansas and Maryland. With an administrative and human resources background, Michele has worked in many industries including hospitality, financial, manufacturing, agricultural and healthcare. She is excited to be on a team working to revitalize and grow a city that has so much to offer.
