The Economic Development Corporation Michigan City, Indiana (EDCMC) recently elected its 2018 officers at a regular Board of Directors meeting in December.

Bill Hackney, News Dispatch and Herald Argus Publisher, was elected as Chair of the EDCMC Board.  Stephanie Oberlie, Chief Operating Officer & Senior Vice President for Harbour Trust & Investment Management, was elected as Vice Chair for the board.  In addition, Lief Erickson, General Manager of Blue Chip Casino, was elected Treasurer.  All officers were elected into their roles unanimously by the EDCMC Board.  Long standing board members, Tom Edwards and Joie Winski, served at their last meeting in December.  The EDCMC presented them both with plaques to show gratitude for their years of service (Photo Provided). 

Outgoing Chairman, Rick Dekker, President of Dekker Vacuum Technologies, said, "It has been a great pleasure to serve as Chairman of the EDCMC Board of Directors over the last year.  The mission of the EDCMC is very important to the growth of this city.  The staff and board members are passionate in their work and it was an honor to work alongside all of them.”  Rick will continue to serve on the board through 2020.

Incoming Chairman, Bill Hackney said, “I am excited to serve as the Chair for the EDCMC board over this next year.  2017 has been a great year for the EDCMC.  The staff has done a lot of work this past year to position itself for strong rewards in the future.  The EDCMC team and board members will continue to show employers, developers, and investors that Michigan City, Indiana is the premier location for doing business.”    

Newly elected members to the EDCMC Board of Directors, serving three year terms, are Dennis Kuhn, Executive Vice President at Horizon Bank; Anna Radtke, Manager at Bridges Waterside Grille; and Brian Tylisz, Vice President of Sales at Sullair.

Other Board members include: Michigan City Mayor, Ron Meer; Tim Bietry, Michigan City Council President; Dr. Barbara Eason-Watkins, Superintendent of the Michigan City Area Schools; Mary Jo Orlowski, President of the Michigan City Chamber of Commerce; Bill Kaminski, Newby Lewis Kaminski Jones LLP; Linda Simmons, Director of Marketing for the LaPorte County Conventions and Visitors Bureau; and Dean Mazzoni, President and CEO of Franciscan Health-Michigan City.

The purpose of the EDCMC Board of Directors is to uphold the duties and mission of the organization which strives to grow and attract new industry and business to the community as well as strengthening existing business and also guide the staff in policy decisions, strategy, evaluation, and resources.
